On Saturday, April 3, 2009, students and chaperones representing Mt. St. Joseph High School will travel to St. John's Island, SC, to assist in the building and repairing of homes in that community. It is our mission to find a piece of ourselves by losing ourselves in the service of others (to paraphrase Gandhi).
Seeing your pictures and reading your comments reminds me of our yearly visits to Preston County, West Virginia each June where we also try to make a difference. The situations are similar, lots of hard times, but the people are always the greatest. You are right that it makes you truly appreciate the gifts we have been given. I always return knowing through the interactions with these wonderful people that I hav been given far more than I could ever give in return! Keep up the good work and know that I will be praying for a safe week and a safe return to good old Maryland for all of you!
